R.W. Burton was born in Newington, Ontario and studied in Ottawa and Paris. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. 1940-1947 and worked in Ottawa as an administrator war art officer. He attended A.Y. Jackson's summer course at The Banff School of Fine Art in 1949 and taught art for 27 years. He became a close friend of A.Y.’s. They travelled and painted together mainly in the Ottawa Valley and Gatineau Hills. A booklet on the artist was published by John A. Libby. See "Shop" on this website for details.
