Stanley Cosgrove was born in Montreal where he studied at
the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Art Association of Montreal under Edwin Holgate.
He won a Province of Quebec prize for painting in 1939 and worked in Mexico with Jose Clemente Orozco until 1944.
He also won a Canadian government fellowship to study in France, 1953.
Cosgrove taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal.
