Arnaktauyok studied fine art at the University of Manitoba and Algonquin College. She has lived and
worked with her craft in Frobisher Bay, Yellowknife and BC. She illustrated children's books in Ottawa for Northern and Indian Affairs. Her travel has taken her to Israel to do a poster for El Al Art and to Washington DC as part of a Canadian delegation to demonstrate Canadian craft. Germaine worked in Montreal for the National Film Board designing a stage and puppets for the Inuk Legend "The Owl and the Lemming" with Co Hodeman.
