T. Mower Martin was born in London England but immigrated
to Muskoka Ontario in 1862, later moving to Toronto.
As a well established artist he was given passes by the Canadian Pacific Railway
to paint landscapes in Western Canada.
He illustrated two books, was a founding member of the Ontario Society of Artists (1872),
a charter memberof the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (1880) and a member of the
Royal British Colonial Society of Artists (1909).
